Target Coupons

So I realized that I've posted deals for Target without pointing out how to find the Target coupons that I've used. Target posts new coupons on their website every two weeks here (or scroll to the bottom of the main page and click on Grocery Coupons) that are good for usually a month after being posted. But there are also websites out there (here and here are two examples) that allow you to print coupons no longer posted on Target's main page, and allow you to easily print multiple copies of coupons.

Target's coupon policy is to accept 1 Manufacturer's coupon (MQ) and 1 Target Coupon (TQ) for each item. So an item that is $2.00 that has a $1.00 off TQ and a $1.00 off MQ would be completely FREE if you redeem both coupons in the transaction.

Once you start looking, you can easily see how this helps grow some great deals.

Freebies and Cheap Deals

Here's a roundup of a few things I spotted today.

Free sample of Kashi Cereal
(Ben recommends Honey Sunshine)

Free Betty Crocker Potatoes Yummy Garlic Potatoes...

Two Free pairs of Victoria's Secret Panties when you become their facebook fan (details here) Deal is only good on Tuesday 9/1. And if you think this doesn't belong on a "Dad" blog, well... I can't help you.

Free Clorox Wipes for Teachers

20% off at a Coach Outlet Store
now through 9/7

Get a "Free" Veggietales DVD (but you have to pay $2.99 s/h. Still a great deal..) Got Little Joe last time this deal was up, as it's one of Ben's favorites.

New Babies R Us Coupons

I'm not the number one fan for Babies R Us, but our options are so limited around here we have little choice if we want to go into a store to purchase stuff. Anyway, they put out new coupons on particular items here (it's a PDF file). Some decent coupons if you're in the market for baby gear.

Free Ice Cream and other Goodies at Target!

Had a GREAT deal at Target tonight. I'll break down the Ice Cream Deal first, then list off the rest of the order.

Buy 5 Edys Ice Cream, Get a $5.00 Target Gift Card
- 5 of the $1.00/1 Target Coupons
- 5 of the $1.00/1 Manufacturers Coupon (there was supposedly in some areas this coupon in the 8/23 Redplum Insert. However, I found a tearpad of these coupons at WAWA on the door of the freezer case by the Edys!)
Total Out of Pocket = $2.50; Get $5.00 Gift Card

Total (Ice Cream) Cost: $2.50 PROFIT

Rest of the trip

5 Schick Woman's Razors $6.99 - (5) $4.00/1 TQ and (5) $4.00/1 MQ
6 Hamburger Helpers $1.25/ea - (3) $0.50/2 TQ and (2) $1.00/3 MQ
2 Cheerios Cups $1.00/ea - (2) $1.00/1 TQ and (1) $1.00/2 MQ
6 Market Pantry Cheese Sticks $0.40/ea - (3) $1.00/2 TQ (Note: These beeped because the cheese was only 40 cents, not the 50 cents I was expecting. May be work better if the cheese is more than 50 cents each)
4 Packs of Skittles $0.52/ea - (4) $1.00/1 TQ
2 Desitin $3.99/ea - (2) $1.00/1 TQ - (1) $2.00/2 MQ
4 Target Brand CFL Bulbs $7.99/ea
1 Athlete's Foot Med (for Baby Ben) $6.14/ea

Used a $5 off $75 purchase and all those coupons. Total (including ice cream deal) came to only $11.58, plus we got that $5.00 Gift Card for next time.

Bottom of Receipt Reads: YOU SAVED: $92.78.

Sweet Deal indeed!

Giant (PA) Foodstore Ad

Moms Need to Know is one of the few sites I've seen that actually covers in detail our local Giant chain (there is another Giant food store chain, I believe it is in Maryland and south of there, but I'm not sure). So check her out and see some of the matchups. But a few things to keep in mind. She seems to have been getting a slightly different ad lately, as it seems Giant is starting to slightly regionalize their ads. Also where she is, they regularly double coupons up to $0.99, whereas our local Giants only double up to $0.50.

This seems to be an issue we have in the LV with our food stores only doubling $0.50 to a total of $1.00. So a $.75 off coupon is only worth $1.00 here instead of being worth $1.50 there.

So here's the list of things that caught my eye in today's circular, but keep in mind if it's things we don't use in our family I might not notice how good a deal it is.

Sweet Corn 12/$2
Cantaloupe 2/$3
Pepsi 12pks 5/$11 (MUST BUY 5)
Strawberries $2.49/lb
Giant Brand Pasta (Elbows, Spaghetti or Ziti) $0.79
Kraft BBQ Sauce 10 for $10
Giant Italian Bread or Rolls 10 for $10
Kraft Singles 2/$4
Stroehmann Bread BOGO
San Giorgio Pasta 10 for $10
Knorr Lipton Sides 10 for $10
Wacky Mac 10 for $10
Dannon Yogurt 10/$5
International Delight Flavored Creamer $0.99
Lays or Doritos Chips 4/$8 (MUST BUY 4)
Perdue Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast BOGO
Tastykake Family Packs 5/$10 (MUST BUY 5)

Did you see any better deals that I overlooked? Let me know.

Birthday Deals

Found a list of Birthday Deals for Ice Cream and other cool treats to get to celebrate your birthday. Found it here at Frugal in Virginia. It has a lot of places outside of the LV, but includes details on how to score treats at places like Baskin Robbins, Cold Stone Creamery, Carvel, Dairy Queen, Dippin Dots, Friendly's Ice Cream, and Maggie Moos.

I Recommend signing up for all the deals now for two reasons. 1) So you don't forget to. 2) Some places take up to a month to start sending and emailing you deals, or you have to be on the list for a period of time prior to being sent these coupons. So sign up now so when your Birthday arrives you'll just sit back and eat all the freebies you can get to.

Diaper Deals

Every week Baby Cheapskate (a great blog about deals on all kinds of Baby related stuff) has a list of where the deals on diapers and formula are. So I thought I'd pass it along. Keep in mind, as of last week Giant (PA) Foodstores have Jumbos of Pampers at a REGULAR PRICE of only $8.99, which is practically unheard of anymore. So just keep that in mind when reading the list and trying to figure out where to spend your diaper budget.

Target Deal 8/28

Today's List:

- 2 Gerber BPA-Free Bottles
- 2 Packages of Pepperidge Farm Cookies
- 1 Box of Cheez-It
- 1 Bottle of A1 Sauce
- 4 Kraft BBQ Sauce Bottles
- 2 Boxes of Fiber One Muffin Mix
- 2 Packages of Cheerios
- 10 Packages of Velveeta Mac & Cheese
- 1 Box of Kashi Honey Sunshine Cereal
- 3lb Bag of Bananas
- 2 Travel Size Renu Contact Solutions
- 2 Bags of Baked Lays
- 4 Snickers Bars
- 2 Twix Bars
- 2 3 Musketeers Bars
- 1 3-Shelf Metal Shelving Unit
Total Cost out of pocket after coupons and sales -- $9.96. Pretty good considering the wife told me not to spend more than $10 on this trip.

Remember, at Target you can use 1 Target Issued Store Coupon (TQ) and 1 Manufactures Coupon (MQ) per item. For example, the Velveeta was on sale $0.67. I bought 10 so that is $6.70. I had 1 TQ for $1.00 off 2, and 5 $1.00 off 2 MQ which brought my total for these to $0.70 total for all 10. Pretty sweet huh?

Mission Statement

I've decided to start this blog for a few reasons. First, I've become a scattered resource for friends and family for some of the really great shopping deals and Internet Freebies I've come across. So in order to feel like I'm sharing as much as I can, I wanted a simple place to post the deals I've found for everyone.

Second, it appears most of the deal hunting, money saving blogs are written by mommies for mommies. So I wanted to become a beacon of fatherhood in the land of "mommy bloggers". Nothing against them, and I'd be probably over a $1000 poorer over the last two years and would have had to make many more sacrifices once our son was born. Many are great women with incredible stories and I admire them greatly. I just was looking for a male voice out here and when I couldn't find it, I thought I might as well do it myself. And since I'm not a stay-at-home Dad, I may lean on linking to my favorites to help report the deals.

Third, I cannot seem to find a good voice in the Lehigh Valley, so again I'm looking to attempt to fill those shoes. So (initially) I'll be focusing on stores folks in the Lehigh Valley Metro area can work with, and skipping over some of the other national brands that seem to overlook us. Optimistically I'm hoping to start with Giant (PA), Redners, Wegmans, Pathmark, Weis, Fresh Market, CVS, RiteAid, Walgreens, Wal-Mart, Target. Most will probably be reposts and links from other blogs, but it should help pass along the reliant info for LV shopping without having to sort through everything else.

And Finally, I wanted a place to showcase some of my great deals and try and help/encourage some others to save a bunch of money as they want.

I'm very open to comments, questions, and suggestions. Drop and email or a comment. Even if it's just to say hi (so I don't think I'm writing to myself).
